My skin is really dry, and I need some help. I can wash, exfoliate, and double moisturize, but I still have dry flaky spots. Makeup makes it even more noticeable. Any suggestions?

Sleeping with a humidifier can work wonders!

If you do not have any medical skin conditions, arent taking medications that could be influencing your seabatious activity, and are drinking MORE than 8 glasses of water a day, dont take a hot shower, do not consume too much caffiene or alcohol, it's probably your skin care products.

If you are caring for your skin properly, there is no reason you should not be able to control dryness.

Dry skin lacks sebum, dehydrated skin lacks moisture. You can be oily and dehydrated, and hydrated but have little oil production.

A good professional brand is Cosmedix, and over the counter neutrogina has a sensitive formula that is very good. When it comes to over the counter products, sensitive formulas are best, even for skin that is not sensitive.

I have the same problem. Had, rather. I went to the clinique counter to try out some stuff, but the lady had me use a product called Exuvience. Apparently the one for sensitive skin is great for dry skin, as it helps exfoliate but not aggressively, and their night cream is amazing. It lasts a long time (it should, it costs 50 bucks), but also moniter your water intake, I like the humidifier idea, unless you already live in a humid area, and also, taking a good daily supplement (not vitamin, get a supplement from either a natural health practictioner or even a reputable health food store. Never GNC.

You need to find a good exfoliant , that will gently get rid of all the dry skin layers on your face, without stripping it. I have dry sensitive skin. I love this stuff called Aloette, restorative enzyme peel. It doesnt make my face all red and irritated like others that I have tried, and it works like a charm. There are many other kinds on the market, as well. See what works best for you.

My favorite exfoliator is the Neutrogena Deep Clean gentle apricot scrub. Its light oil and alcohol free and nonabrasive. Sunscreen is a great way to protect skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays which are not only damaging but also drying. Use the Nivea Creme moisturizer as a night cream. Use a lighter, oil free moisturizer for daytime.
P.S. WATER WATER WATER WATER!!!!!!! Good Ole H20 Drink plenty of it.

I used to have horribly dry skin. I then started keeping track of my fluid intake on a daily basis, and in the winter I sleep with a humidifier on. It's made a huge difference. I still moisturize but I don't need to use as much as I used to.

I actually have exzema it really is like truly dry pores and skin and the purely element that works on my is toddler lotion...doesnt remember what kind as long as its toddler lotion the stuff from the dollar save believe it or no longer works the perfect, its thicker lotion no longer waterdowned so it form of feels to artwork extra useful...and it would want to sound gross yet contained in the iciness dont bathe everday attempt another day, also what helps is once you get out of the bathe pat dry and once you're somewhat moist use vasoline throughout then dress (perfect in case you're taking your showers at evening) you'd be alittle greasy even though it truly works.....

I am not sure if it works, but my friend tell me that it is worth trying. Heat up the moisturizer abit using a microwave. Then steam your face over a pot of steaming water for 15 minutes. Then apply the heated moisturizer. She say that this way, the skin is able to hold in the moisture better.

When your skin gets very dry. Try using vaseline (petroleum jelly). It works very well. It may not be the vanilla scent lotion from bath & body works. but it will moisterize ur skin like no other.

For makeup try to buy make with moisterizers in them.
Also not drinking a lot of water can cause very dry skin!

Use strait glycerin.... Its the only thing that helped my grandmother and she tried everything.. You can get it at any pharmacy or walmart even...

ALso once a week take regular table salt and get in the bath.... Use regular soap first then make a paste of salt and use to exfoliate rinse and dry then use a good lotion Jergans ect.... This makes you extra soft and the salt nourishes your skin...

stop with the exfoliateing it can be overdone making your skin more dry. Try some of the Aveeno products. Another good old one is the Corn Huskers lotion it is very healing. You can get it at Wal mart in the lotion dept.
