Sometimes we feel that everything happens for a reason,it's queer and absurd.Decisons we make wil make our life go on in a good or bad way doenst matter as time will go on anyways. In a way we have control over our lives if we control others,we cant be the only, our decisions cant be the only factors affecting our lives,we all do affect each othe lives and our consience our need always to ask what would it have been if I did that or act that way...so fate and destiny is our own perceptionof our lives with what would have been and if I did that etc.

The cool thing about being a human is the ability to make decisions. The best thing about being an American is the freedom to follow your heart and go for your dreams. Everyone I believe has a special purpose in life. You may never know what that purpose is...you may have already fulfilled it by effecting some stranger by a kind act....even through simple common courtesy. A fated phone call that stops someone from feeling full of despair and alone. Stopping to help a stranger in a car accident. Answering a desperate question from a troubled soul here on this web site. Voting in an election changes lives...contributing to your local school....when you gave to the local food bank....in a million careless ways you could be changing the faith and fate and aiding someone else find their voice or destiny. You never know when or where or how you could touch a life...and make it better. Is it destiny or fate? Is it both?
Bad things happen to good people...it isn't fair...is that destiny or fate? Or is it a case of bad times make you stronger for your destiny or fate? Hard question...I guess it does come down to faith or belief...

"There is no fate but what we make for ourselves."
Oddly enough, I believe that quote is from one of the Terminator movies, though I'm not entirely sure. It's been a long time since I watched the movies. The point is, just like the quote states, there is no fate.
I think the mere fact that most of the people took a second to think about their answer after reading your question proves that they made a conscious choice to (1) answer the question, and (2) answer it in a certain way. If fate existed, all answers would be made in a split second and there wouldn't be a need to contemplate things. I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to get at, but I personally think the act of thinking critically destroys the concept of fate/destiny.

Yes many r self centered...it is how the generation was formed. If people don't come together the world's resouces will be depleted at 2050.
The most common athiest are fools they stopped believing in god only for personal gain. But after all the partying or personal gain they will at some point crash and in desparation rejoin a new religion. The better athiest believes in " the golden rule" and just tries to live his/her life the best they can. Some people who believe in a higher more mysterious sense of god than a strict religion often are classified as athiests. Some athiests are similar to Buddhists trying to free their mind or of what some call "mental crutches" which many religions are. But everyone has a mental crutch, well almost.
Ah yes, it's all what u were raised on. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists (well few, also in buddhism they have the choice to embrace a faith with buddhism), and Hindus are the majority and they all have their share of ignorant fools who believe their's is the one and only path. Also there are human flaws influenced in the Bible. They all equally believe in their faiths, whose to say who is right?
But heres the catch. Some people can respect all faiths with the current information so available, but with it some they just stop caring because of a somewhat overload of information and modern idols.
I hope that someday soon something will unite all people to work for the common good...perhaps a book or movie portraying our religious futures could snap them out...but like one "beatles" song about a utopia sadly that can never be gained, there will always be atleast one fool.
Everything is in a cycle; phsychoanalization (patterns of one's mind), the Bible (sin, disaster, repentance, salvation), kharma, reincarnation, nature, and Steven Hawkins theory (there have been many civilizations like ours throughout the universe, but at one point it detroys itself through over exhaustion of resources, or extinction (nukes)). There are ups and downs...your job is to make sure the next down isn't as low as the next one so eventually we will keep pushing upward.
My personal philosophy is follow the golden rule and embrace god. Of all religions i must say i respect buddhism the most, it brings people together like christianity was meant to do.
Hope I was of some help,
Until next time,
Yours truly,
Wranderer

If there is a fate, it would mean that God controls everything and there is no free will. If there is no fate, then does it really mean that God lets us make our own decisions? Afterall, God is omnipotent and would know the future and what we're about to do.
As a Deist, I believe God is a clockmaker. God created the universe and then used the natural laws of nature to let the universe run its course. Thus, God does not engage in divine intervention. Is there a fate or not? Who knows...but that isn't going to prevent me from living my life to the fullest.

The phrase that you state that you hate is so true. Just look back on any major experience in your life (birth, death, marriage, etc) and you will see that everything/ everyone involved in that situation was in just the right place at the right time (when/ where their expertise/ advise/ experience was needed). If you cant see the reason for something happening, you are still too involved in the situation (ie, still grieving, upset).

I believe that there are paths. like when u are young, u have one little decision and if you make the the wrong one, then u live with that fate, but if you choose the right one then u live with that one, get me? but yeah, i believe everything happens for a reason

No, How u shape your life is up to u. Fate or destiny has nothing to do with it. U alone are responsible for how your life turns out.

I do, but i also believe we have a hand in making our own future as well. I believe in God, and he gave us free will , so the decisions we make are based on logic as well as how we feel about this with our heart as well.

Sure, to a point. We also make our fates or destinies by making lousy choices sometimes.
