Justin Morneau is just better, if you look at the way his season went this year it is no surprise that he won it. Derek Jeter was consistent this year but how can you not be on the Yankees... they have such a good team that it ups everybodies stats on the team. Morneau wasn't on a very good team, and without Morneau, Minnesota probably wouldn't even have made the playoffs. He had around 40 more home runs and about 20 more RBI so his stats are better than Jeters. Justin Morneau was the better player this year, and he deserved to win the al MVP by alot more than 16 points...

The 'V' stands for valuable - not the Best player, the most valuable.

Without Jeter the yankees would have still been a playoff team.

WIth Mornaeu (remember how the central division played out, it went to the last game) the Twins would have been no different than KC

Mornaeu was the most VALUABLE player.

MVP is the guy who helps their team the most.

Also, no way is Jeter the best defensive SS in the AL. That WAS a joke.
I would question if he is the best defensive SS on his side of the Yankee infield.

AL MVP applicants: Jacoby Ellsbury, Jose Bautista, Curtis Granderson, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander. Verlander distinguishes himself from the gang because of the fact he's a tumbler. all of the different applicants performed the two nicely this twelve months, and 3 of them have been all on stable communities besides. Verlander won by utilising default, the different applicants canceled one yet another out. NL MVP applicants: Ryan Braun, Matt Kemp, Prince Fielder, Albert Puljos, Justin Upton. Ryan Braun and Matt Kemp distinguish themselves from the gang only in step with their performances this twelve months. the different gamers weren't on the comparable point as Kemp and Braun and consequently the award will become a 2-guy race. Braun and Kemp had very comparable numbers this twelve months, the only important huge difference coming in HR and RBI (Kemp had 6 extra HR and 15 extra RBI). yet Braun distinguishes himself from Kemp by utilising being on the extra suitable team that made the playoffs, and he gets the nod. it extremely is my rationalization of the MVP awards this twelve months. If Fielder and Puljos performed besides as Kemp and Braun had this twelve months, and Kershaw were on a stable team, those 4 gamers could have ccanceledeach different out and Kershaw could have won the MVP, yet that fluctuate into no longer the case.

Seriously, there is no controversy. You will not see this on ESPN about riots because of this decent choice. If the MVP was based on overall ability, Jeter would be ranked 5th.

The only "controversy" would be pissed off ignorant yankee fans.

It's because Morneau was more important to the twins. Without Morneau, they had no other offense. On the Yankees, the whole freakin roster is of future hall of famers, thats why

there ain't no controversy. The sportswriters have the rihgt to choose Morneau, and remember the voting was done before the postseason.

jeter 380 with risp....new york expectations, carried team all year... ... tough place for righthanded power numbers... if jeter played half his games in homerdome he could of hit thirty...bad choice ,.... pujols not winning terrible choice....liberal sportswriters resent yankee success...their heart bleeds for the underdog...
