I have dealt with forced marriages on a number of occasions. In theory a person can become a British citizen after 2 years of marriage.

If the prospective person is in the UK illegally and proceeds to get married to become a British citizen, then British nationality very unlikely to be granted. The person concerned will be deported unless, an allegation is made by him/her that their life is in danger.

However I get the impression, you suggesting that you are being forced into marriage, in the hope your partner will become a British citizen in due course.

I strongly urge you to ring this number of the Forced Marriage Unit: 020 7008 0151

A forced marriage is illegal. You need to speak to a lawyer that specializes in Immigration Laws. If this person coerced you into marrying them for citizenship, not only can you have the marriage disolved, but he/she will lose citizenship.

See a solicitor, he will tel what the law is on this and your marriage will probably be annulled, and they will be deported without the British Citizenship..
