It connects to a TV antenna or cable connection. Run the TV setup and choose what option you want. If you choose cable, you will need to hook it into your existing cable line if you have one. If you dont, you will need to subscribe to cable.

The tuner card is the part you are most worried about. The MS media center will do what ever you tell it to with what ever it is fed from the tuner card. Most tuner cards can recieve unscrambled analog tv and cable. No prob, the computer can then do channel changes based on your schedule. Most cable companies are digital now so you will need the digital box. Just set the card input to channel 3 and the box to output 3 (just like setting up a vcr). And away you go. Now changing the channel will need to be done by the digital converter box SO you either need a remote blaster (lets your computer talk to the converter like a standard IR remote by "blasting" the IR signals all over to ensure the box get the commands) or somesort of cable link (usb probably) between the box and computer. Call your cable provider to find out what works.

The FEE would be for TVGuide online or something similar to see and schedule whats showing during the next week or two. Necessary if you will be letting the computer automatically do any recording or channel changes. All this to do what a TIVO or DVR does.
