If there are children, yes. Unless she is evil and then it is your husband's job to cut the ties that bind. But you knew she hated you when you married her baby and you handled it back then so handle it ongoing. I don't think the word is "accept," it is more like tolerate during limited contact or get real smart and creative and manipulate her like she manipulates her little boy blue. You could schmooze her to death and she wouldn't know what hit her. You could look her right in the eyes after she disses you and say, a la Bette Davis, "Well, mother Jones, it kinda looks like it's going to be a bumpy ride tonight. What say we lay it all out on the table right now" Keep it steady, unemotional and let her hang herself in front of the baby. If baby doesn't get a real fast growth spurt and tell her to shut up, dump the wimp after grabbing the kids and filing for sole custody.
However, if the evil one is you then have the mother in law email me and I will advise her.

I'd tell the husband to visit her with out you. When family functions/holidays come around be cordial. Don't exclude her from family things in your home. And your husband should have a chat with her and tell her too, "you don't have to like her but be nice." However, If he is placing her ahead of you then no don't accept her or him either.

Thats a tricky question. If she hates u then why would she want to save your marriage.Or is it u just think she hates u.If u just think it and she offers then take it. What can it hurt. Give her a chance.Maybe she knows something u don't.
