In a situation like this, I would recommend behaving as you always do. Ignore the rumors around you, and soon, people would soon see that your so-called "best friend" had lied. If you are always on your best behavior, then there is obviously nothing to worry about.

First you need to look at what he told them, and why "everyone" so readily believed them. If you were friends with these other people, then they should have some bearing as to "who" you are and that you are not this "person" he created. If you can see why everyone believed this person, then you need to fix that problem. If there is no reason anyone should believe them...then don't worry about it. It will pass.

This just happened to me - I won;t go into details but the best thing you can do is concentrate on building relationships with people who would not do that to you. It may be hard now - but by letting one bad relationship out of your life you will make room for so many more better ones.

I think eventually time will tell. My ex-husband and his family did the same to me too...but I just didn't care as we can't stop what others say or think about us. But you know that this "best friend" cannot be trusted anymore. Good luck.

Think is she really your friend or is not your friend anymore? You need to go up to her and settle things out in a good way. Tell her what you feel. If she is willing to stop she is truely your friend. If she doesn't she is not your friend. take tha in to conciteration.
