This is becoming quite an issue, this award. Cannavaro is an awesome defender, responsible captain and leader and very nice guy. Whenever any one mentions him though it's always in relation to his WC performance alone or because he captained the WC winning side and this award takes more than that ( the WC) into account Juve. All the players on your list are worthy. Henry and Ronaldinho too are two of the most efficient and talented players I have seen play. I'm not offended at anyone on your list winning the title even though my first choice would be Eto'o and then probably Henry because of their entire seasons play. My point is we all have our opinions on who we would like to see win and if they do great, if they don't that's cool too as there are quite a few players who deserve it, but only one winner. I'm not anti Italian or Cannavaro but right now I wouldn't say he has been consistently the most complete or best player in the world for the entire past year. I would chose Buffon ahead of him in that regard. His consistency has been clearly evident.

CANNAVRO !!
HE WAS THE HERO OF THAT ITALY-GERMANY'S MATCH . WHAT A MATCH THAT WAS AND WHAT A GREAT JOB CANNAVRO DID . HE WAS ALSO THE RUNNER'S UP IN THE GOLDEN BALL AWARD , AND I THOUGHT THAT HE DESERVED IT MORE THAN ZIDANE.THERE WAS JUST A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM ZIDANE GETTING 2012 POINTS WHERE AS CANNA GETTING 1977.
Cannavaro never received a single yellow or red card throughout the 690 minutes he played in the tournament. The Italian defence conceded only two goals throughout the entire tournament, an own-goal and a penalty shot.
AND OTHERWISE HENRY AND RONALDHINO'S PERFORMANCE WERE JUST AVERAGE THIS WORLD CUP NOT SOMETHING GREAT.
CANNAVARO REALLY DESERVES IT!
THANKS

Yes, Materazzi did say that Zidane deserved the award because he was the best on the pitch. He won it for what he did on the pitch," Materazzi said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport published Thursday. "He was the best." Materazzi was the one that was headbutted, if he feels that Zidane should keep the golden ball, I dont see who can disagree.

Thierry Henry
Henry was key to Arsenal's run the final of the Champions League, and, albeit to a lesser extent, he was also influential in France's World Cup run. If success is measure by one's performance over the course of the year for both club and country, then Henry should be the clear winner.
