They can and Iceland just resumed whale hunting. Japan has been using phony "scientific study" permits for some time now to take whales.

sorry babe i'm pretty sure they are allowed to kill up to a certain number each year , there are resrtictions on the number and they can only huint them using traditional methods as far as I'm aware kinda like Aborigines in Australia are able to do with Dugong

I believe at the present the only people still hunting whales are the Japanese.
It's supposed to be illegal for anyone to kill them.

They have a whale hunting season... like they do for deer, bear, dove, quail, etc... if you google it you can have your proof... either for you or your dad. :)
