If your partner doesn't, neither should you. It's hard if you're partner is passive in that aspect, though.

Mother-in-laws are always picked on. If your own Mother would give you the same advice(Nonsenses) , you would accept it and not give it a second thought. But if it is your Mother-in-law , it is Nonsense. Reverse Question: Why is it that the daughter-in-laws pick and completeley run their husbands/boyfriends Mothers down? Some daughter-in-laws are rude and not nice. A Mother-in-law can pick up on the negative attitude. Many Mother-in-laws , try to win the new member into her family. Purchase clothes for the children and the daughter -in-law, will not put them on the children, but if her own Mother would purchaset the same item of clothing, the daughter-in-law, would use her Mothers gift and not the Mother-in-law. Do you ever wonder, how the man feels, when his Mother is so un-fairly judged ? It is one of the worse things a man can endure. The most verbal abuse a man can handle , is when his wife, calls him a Mamma's boy or a Mamma's bit--. Every man loves his Woman and his Mother, only in different ways. If your gonna have a happy husband, you need to be kind to his Mother. If you are not kind to his Mother, you will reap the harvest as you get older. He will never forgive you, if you treat his Mother bad. So try to accept her, don't be rude to her, and respect her.

It can be really difficult having an in-law that is difficult to get along with. Especially when your spouse always stands up for her and doesn't see your side. Remember that blood is thicker than not. Discuss with your spouse and don't diminish your self respect. Let her know how you feel and remember that your feelings are valuable too. My EX mother in law would act ever so sweet but continuously throw barbs and talk behind the daughters in law backs. The only way she would cool the behavior was when I would stand up to her and say that God bless her in her time of need. It always stopped her berating

The thing is, the mother-in-law is like the matriarch of the family and to be respected above all else; not to mention she is your spouse's mother.
Because of her stature in the family, it is expected to tolerate any nuisances, whether you like it or not. Remember, your spouse will one day be a "mother-in-law" herself and will be subjected to the same scrutiny when she delivers a "blow." :)

I wouldn't... but then again I don't have a mother-in-law.
I do, however, have a couple son-in-laws, and they both really like me, just as I do them. My daughters couldn't have picked nicer guys. They're the best!

you don't if the in law is doing something disrespectful to you then tell her and be as honest about how you feel. I know a lot of people who have stood up to their in - laws and don't have any problems from them at all. Some even had to go so far as to not welcome the in law into their homes. EVER! Good Luck!

yes, why must you ? when she gets under your last nerve, walk into another room, leave her talking 2 herself.. give her the silent treatment.. when she calls an invites you over, tell her no thanks, my ears feel fine now, but when i come over, i seem 2 get a earache and want 2 leave : ) if you do go over there, go with toilet paper sticking out of your ears.. she will ask why, tell her voice's hurt your ears today : ) lmao.. eat her food and leave..
