you really don't need it,but its a good thing to have in case you do wreck it or it gets stolen,and its cheap enough to have, i have it on mine,and its 97 dollars a year ,that's cheap enough for me,,but id get it anyway you never know what could happen to it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Sinse you cant ride it on public streets you are not required by law to have it.You can obtain the insurance like you would for a atvin case it is stolen or you damage it on private property

My insurance agent couldn't add my dirtbikes to my auto or motorcycle policy. But they did put them on our homeowner's policy to protect them from theft or if our garage burns down.
If you don't own a house you might be able to keep it covered under a renter's insurance policy.

Depending where you live, If you use it on private owned land no, if you take it to the forestry, yes, (some areas, provinces) you also need a recreation vehicle licence plate.
