I'm a little too old to be interested in PofC, although I thing Johnny D is adorable.
You need some catagories, because most of us have a favorites in several different types. Like for drama, "To Kill A Mockingbird."
For comedy, "What's New, Pussycat?" Musical, "Singin' in the Rain"
Western, "Magnificent Seven."
Fantasy is a toss up between "Lord of the Rings" and "Wizard of Oz"
ScFi would be the original "Star Wars" or the Indiana Jone series.
See what I mean? And everything I have listed is just one or two out of a dozen greats in each catagory. I didn't mention cop/detective movies or classics like Casablanca, or chick flicks. How about action films?
I have over 500 VHS/DVD's in my personal collection. I gave up going to movies about the time I moved out into the country. Easier and cheaper to wait for the reviews and then buy the DVD. And I don't have to sit in a noisy, smelly, disease ridden movie house.

So hard to choose an absolute favourite. Here's a few:
Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away-- It was wonderful!
Donnie Darko-- I loved Gary Jule's "Mad World"
Real Genius-- One of my favourite quotes is from it. "Self realisation. I was pondering the immortal words of Socrates when he said, 'I drank what?'" ~ Chris Knight
Amadeus-- Tom Hulce made a good Wolfgang
And many more tops, but mention the I will not.
Star Wars
Okay, I lied, but I just HAD to include them.
