I am 10 weeks pregnant. My husband and I had intercourse today for the first time in 3 weeks, since I found out.( TMI I know). Im not bleeding or anything and he was very gentle but since we have finished I have had some mild cramping. Is this normal or something I should be really concerned about? I'll called the OB on call at the hospital and he's doing an emergency c-section and is supposed to call me back ASAP. What do you think this cramping is and should I refrain from having further intercourse?

perfectly normal to have cramping after $ex. sorry but it won't let me put the word. i would not worry about it, now if you have SEVERE cramping and/or bleeding then i would worry. call your doctor asap. it is just swollen in there and the baby is taking up some room and your other stuff in there is moving around making room for the baby and this is why you are cramping and hurting. you will be fine. i promise. good luck with the baby, and have all the sex you want just be careful and easy. hope this helps holly

This is likely from going 3 weeks without intercourse. If there is no bleeding or anything as you say; you should be fine. The discomfort may be gone by morning. There is very little chance of a real problem... so you can relax.

If the next time you have sex there is more discomfort then I would say not to have sex until after you give birth.

Your body's under some pretty drastic changes so it may be wise just to relax about everything a bit and allow it all time to adjust.
Plus your mind may have been trying to hard to concentrate so that in turn wont help the rest of you relax.
Just take things steady and don't stress to much. If you don't begin to feel better in a day or so then perhaps see a GP.

You were good to call the doctor. This happened to me too, but I slept it out. I would refrain from sex until you hear from the doctor. Now I am scared to have intercourse.... as long as your not bleeding though, Im sure everythings fine!!! Good luck and congrats.

Sex is only a no-no if you are high risk. Later in pregnancy though sex can start labor. Nipple stimulation, the female having an orgasm and the man's ejaculate can all cause contractions. That's the only time you might need to worry though.

This is completely normal... I had this problem almost everytime i had sex with my husband... It wears off.. There is just so much extra blood flow in your vaginal area that it can be over whelming... take it easy, you will get used to it... take care.. Zoe

I have heard that you can have sex up until the actual birth of the baby. having sex doesn't affect the baby. that I know of.
