Money can be a good master too; you can't spend what you haven't got and that teaches us to be wiser with money.
Money can be put to both good and bad use as our servant. It can be used as a means of control over others or invested in unsavory areas, such as drugs or firearms.
So, I think it is only partly true.

it means when you control money,fine,like a servant obeys you money will obey u too,but,if money becomes your master and money controls you then it's a really bad master and can lead you to adversity...

in order tosurvive in the materialistic world money is necessary. hence it is good servant so long as it satiate our needs. it is bad master if u misuse or improper utilization. one should be careful in deciding their priorities and spend the amount. then it will be good servant otherwise it will be bad master.

I would think it means you should manage money well and make it serve you because that's waht it's for, but don't start obssessing over it.
