'87 BMW 325, with 196XXX miles on it, and I just started driving it less than a month ago after trading with a friend, and it runs absolutely great. When I took it for it's emissions test, the tester said that she had seen cars like mine with almost 400,000 miles on them still running fine. I also enjoy showing kids who have poured thousands of dollars into crappy jap cars just how much faster a STOCK German car is. Until I start tinkering with it, that is. Then it will be even faster. Incidentally, I noticed that the Japanese cars, which are supposed to be the most reliable, are a distinct minority here.

I used to use a '66 Dodge Dart as a daily driver, with nearly 200,000 miles on the clock - and I got it in 1996. However, I've retired it from daily driver use because I couldn't resist the urge to modify it. Still have it, but it's temporarily off the road while I swap in an aluminum stock car radiator and a couple other bits.

And for a short stint this year, I used a 1979 Honda CX500 motorcycle as my primary means of transportation. However, it wasn't in very good shape when I got it, and I'm ditching it in favor of a newer bike.

I have a 1990 Chevy Corsica that just rolled over 205,000 miles today. In the time I've had it I have averaged about $600/year in repairs. This includes tires, brakes, oil changes and such as well as bigger jobs.

I figure it will go another year or so and then be just about dead (I drive around 30,000 miles a year for work.) Although one used car dealer I know has told me that as long as the engine runs to keep it going. I'll see in the next 10 months before I decide.

I have a '69 Chevelle I drive every day. Gas is killing me at the moment but it's my one indulgence. I suppose it's got close to 300K on the car but the engine has been replaced a couple of times from the original 307 that came in it. The transmission has been replaced as well. Nope, no SS but she's still my girl! :-D We go probably 30 miles a day.

I can make some good suggestions...
Nissan Truck
Toyota Truck
Lexus ES
Honda Accord
Volvo 740
Mercedes 300E
All of these vehicles are very reliable, find one with under 200,000 miles and you are good to go....for another 100,000 or so.

I have a 20 y/o Honda Civic that I WAS driving to work. Then one of my kids' car died and he asked to borrow it for a few weeks. THAT was 6mo. ago.

I bought it from a friend at work with only 85000 mi on it. HE only drove it to work and he lives 2 miles from work. He coulda rode a bike cheaper....
