From my experience, Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving Saturday are the best days to travel. Avoid Wed and Sunday at all costs! Good luck!

Usually by Thanksgiving Day, most people have gotten where they're going to go, so it's usually lighter.
It will suck again on Friday near any malls, as the morons who just have to be out there at 5 am to save an extra 5% are the ones who usually cause most of the traffic accidents.

Yes, Holiday traffic stinks and none more than Thanksgiving and Christmas. The bad traffic started today and you can bet that it will be bad through Sunday - though on Wednesday, my guess is it will be bad until around 3pm, then it should thin out as folks are reaching their destinations.
Peace!
