Now Women who shame their family by being raped will only be stoned
Known as the Hudood Ordinances, were introduced by a military ruler, President Zia-ul-Haq, in 1979.
They made a rape victim liable to prosecution for adultery if she could not produce four male witnesses(WHAT A JOKE) to the assault instead of convictions to be made on the basis of forensic and circumstantial evidence (stupid). Islamist lawmakers walked out of parliament, boycotting the vote, after leader Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman told the assembly the change to the law would encourage free sex.
though sex outside marriage had always been an offence under laws on adultery

Any male(not a MAN) that agrees with this Stupid law should be stoned to death ............Not Females

After reading the above, I am beginning to think being stoned, while not in any sense desirable, may be the least of the troubles for a female in such a repressive state. She is only property, first of her father, then of her husband. She is subject to beatings, intentional scarring, abuse no human should endure, and divorce -with massive social stigma, just because her husband is tired of her. Which also teaches the sons of such a union to treat their wives the same. I have a feeling the horror of such a life might take the sting out of the pain of stoning. They know only what they have been taught. "A savage knows only the rules of his tribe and island".

Honestly now, how can these Pakistani's be so backwards? Im Bangladeshi, and know that Bangladesh is still behind pakistan in the wealth and education race, but we aint got any daft law that allows anyone to be stoned to death for any crime, never mind getting RAPED?! so how is it that such a pre-historic and barbaric law is allowed to pass in a country in 2006!! the mind boggles...

Do muslims really, truly love their women? I don't think so. All 'honour' and the worlds ills falls to the females, conveniently getting the men off the hook for just about every excuse under the sun. Even burkas, hijabs, et all, still arent enough to protect, which proves theyre just a means of marginalising women further. A male, whether brother, father or husband who profess to love their sisters, mothers will think nothing of killing her in the name of 'honour'. It's about time they started taking responsibility for themselves, first by growing up to be men, and not just spiteful uneducated males. As long as the masses remain ignorant, as long as they remain in thrall of bitter old males preaching, as long as they continue believing they are not accountable for their actions (instead of using women as a scapegoat), then they will still have these diabolical no-win laws. If it weren't so dreadful it would be almost laughable.

that is the most stupid thing i have ever heard in my life. They're basically saying it's okay for men to rape females and get away with it because the risks of what will happen to the female is so high. I think the man who created this law should be stoned!

There are some seriously screwed up views they have in that part of the world about the place of women in society.

Remember not too long ago if a woman's husband died in India she was burned with him because she had no worth without a husband.

Screwed up backward thinking is the norm in some places.

That's a REAL law huh? I've heard about what you are saying in portions, but really didn't believe some of the/ALL of the details you just laid before me, which were only mentioned to me by someone from Iran about what you are posting. 99% of Pakistan is Islamic, isn't it? Man, it makes you think, at least. Wow.

its about keeping women second class.
barbaric standards.
can men in the country vote or petition to change it?
or men who have emigrated and don't so much fear the reprisals?
is it a Law that hasn't been changed or is it still really done.

In some countries women are just not treated as people. I treat my pets better than some people treat other people, or their own families. That's just sad.
