On the original XBX, you can't watch DVD movies unless you have the remote. It was MS's way to avoid paying royalties for using DVD technology, and a way to make you pay extra by buying the remote just to watch DVD movies.

O_O The 20GB arcade with that manufacturing date is ~$200 itself. The wireless adapter can fetch another $50, the controllers too. I would buy it if I could. Or if 360s weren't haunted by RROD. EDIT: I forgot about the latest round of 360 price drops. Your price is still a great deal.
