What's the best beach?

I wanna know the best beach overall... clear blue water, white sand...etc

I always liked Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach in LA. It's the upscale area of town, and there is lots to do since it is LA. The boardwalk stretches for miles with shops and restaurants. That's what I liked about it. The sand is beautiful, and I assume the water is fine - not exactly sure though. In LA, you don't have to walk past dunes to get to the beach. You walk through a nice neighborhood and right onto the boardwalk with all the shops.
