It's become a lot happier since having kids. Before, it really dragged on me to feel obligated to be "merry" and "jolly" and "forgiving", etc., when I just wanted to get through as I would any other time of year. But my two young boys are royally jacked for Christmas, and their enthusiasm fires up mine. But yes, we'll really take it on the chin come the January credit card bills. Yet to see them happy and enjoy things I didn't as a child, will make up for it in many ways.

A time of joy. I enjoy buying nifty things for my loved ones and I really love wrapping presents and decorating the house.
During years past when I had little or no money, I'd spend only on the kids in the family-- kids can be quite happy with cheap toys, as long as they're COOL cheap toys-- and the grown-ups would get homemade cookies.
I do get irritated by the assault of Christmas music in stores and restaurants. It’s not that I don’t like some Christmas songs, it’s just that NOBODY needs to hear Jingle Bells five times a day for an entire month... oughta be a law....

So I am getting a few must have's already got the tmx tickle me elmo on ebay and friday I am hitting the sales. I could care less if I get anything I think the joy of a childs face of any age lighting up when they get exactly what they want is priceless.

Love Christmas! It means holidays - YAY!
My nephews are now getting old enough to appreciate what Chrissie really is and I love watching them get excited about presents.
We have quite an extended family and my sister's birthday is on Boxing Day so we've come up with secret Santa for adults and we all by pressies for the little ones

For me, it's a time of joy. I've never once felt obligated to buy gifts for every single person I know or even half of them.
To stay out of debt, figure out how much you are willing and able to spend and don't stray from that.

I'm ok with the money side of it because I save for it
but I'm always glad when its over because of the worry that goes with the planing & knowing what to buy now days!
People should always put money away for it so they can enjoy it & buy little things each week towards it & never borrow money

I know it should be a happy time. But for me, I get depressed thinking about all I have to do and all that is expected and what little $ I have. It was so much nicer as a child. Now as an adult it is all work. :-(
