Although of course you need to be very careful, travelling alone is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in a country and people, you are forced to break out of your own comfort zone and throw yourself into new experiences and cultures, hope you have a go and a fantastic time

Yes, I enjoy travelling alone, and have been doing so for the 12 years before I got married. And even now, we may travel together to a place, but then split up to go our separate ways before meeting up again.
Being alone means that you WILL HAVE TO make friends with the locals and really get to know the culture of a country. You are more likely to ask if uncertain (e.g. about the history of a building) and others are more likely to speak to you too. I like this because I enjoy learning about different people's culture.
When travelling alone, I generally stay in guesthouses and in bigger cities, I would opt for the dormitory (as single rooms are really expensive).

I travelled from Japan to England alone and never felt lonely and always felt safe. If you stay in hostels, you will always find like-minded people to go out with but if you want some alone time, you can ditch them because they are not really your friends, if that makes sense. Make an effort to speak a little bit of the local language if you can. As for safety, just don't take stupid risks. If you are a woman, you will get some hassle but in my experience it's mostly at train stations so it's always pretty harmless.
It's better to travel alone than not to travel at all. Go for it, take care and have fun!

I love it, plenty of lime to think, reflect or plan. You meet people who act, and react, to you and only you, therefore you gain a better insight into yourself, and the new people you meet. Freedom, independence, rewards, fresh air, the best.
Travelling with other people is alright if you want company, but travelling alone forces you to meet people. It also changes you as a person, you become self-reliant, your instincts are better, you learn a lot about yourself, and generally, you gain confidence.
If you're not sure if it's for you, maybe you should start off on a short-break somewhere. I gather you're asking the question because you are interested in doing something?

I think its good for a short period of time, as you can plan your own itinerary and don't have to answer to anyone. If its for a long period of time a good travelling partner would be nice.
Few months back I went to oxford, UK for 3 months to visit a friend. When my friend was busy working, I was alone but it was ok, then I started getting lonely. But luckily I met some nice friends at the hostel that I lived in and spent most of my time with them during my last 2 weeks there. It was great fun. Would love to go back again next time. Cheers

Anyone who travels alone should always take care to stay safe at all times whichever country you travel in.
I ,all by myself went to beautiful Greece some years ago and had a lovely holiday. The Greeks are the friendliest of people and so welcoming.
On saying this, one should be careful when travelling alone.

I always travel on my own.
that way you can do what you want and go where ever you want with no hassle or arguments.
it also encourages you to talk and make friends with other travellers and locals.and that way you learn more than any tourist book will ever tell you.
