i think the south suckx. then northeners are more industrialized and advanced.

Not necessarily. Duke, the University of Texas, Georgia Tech, William and Mary and the University of Virginia all jump to mind as top school in Southern states. There are many others too. Of course, the North has very good schools too.

I agree, not necessarily. In general, I'm of the opinion that you should go to the very best school you can get in to (and afford, through whatever combination of scholarships, loans, etc. you can muster...)

Of course, the school also has to be a good fit. So it could well be that a fine school in the south is just right for you.

I'd suggest checking out the Fiske Guide to Colleges for a real sense of a wide variety of schools. Visit www.collegeboard.com, get literature from schools, visit those of greatest interest to you, apply...and take it from there!
