So I am curious as to how you feel about comics in the papers. There are only a handful of good ones currently. Some of the ones I hated when I was growing up was Family Circus (not an actual comic according to Scott McCloud), Marmaduke, and Garfield. I miss Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, Far Side Gallery...

And I despise superheros. Why should I read about someone so larger then life and yet so strangely dull. I like underground comics, some slice of life like American Splendor, a few select manga volumes, and some good ol' fashioned blood n' guts action.

Some of my favorite books are Scott McClouds books Understanding Comics and Reinventing Comics. I love what some of the gritty and experimental webcomics have done not only in terms of art but in pushing the boundaries.

I am an artist/aniamtor who loves comics, and yet has spent more time contemplating what comics could be rather the what they are. Any thoughts? Or am I just cynical.

There have been superhero comics and romance comics and horror comics, and teen comics, and western comics, and just about every other genre you could care to name or imagine.

Isn't it wonderful that there is room within the medium for so many different genres, styles and people...? You sound as though you have some ideas and you may yet make your mark on the comics world. Good luck and we may see you in the funny papers someday!

i think of lily is right, anime/manga are greater realistically written then a comedian. maximum comics are approximately super Heroes and stuff like that. I recommend a senior in highschool isn't gonna be bitten by utilising a spider and improve powers to shoot spider webs. yet like chi is a real ingredient. possibly unlike how its used on dbz yet nonetheless its real. they're additionally drawn greater valuable than comics and are far greater emotional. i've got by no skill cried to a comedian yet i will ball with manga or anime )': and its greater stable to voice out somebody going for the time of the homicide of his maximum suitable chum then that's to voice somebody wanting revenge. It take greater emotion etc.
