ya know what? those are definitely helpful things...but, having worked at Avon headquarters in NYC as a Fashion and Jewelry editor, I know a lot about the products, goodies, quality, etc. etc, which i do not want the world to know. let's call them "trade secrets." I have met women who've earned bazillions of $$$$, and some who are the only ones ordering...from and for...themselves. And a man who did pretty well for himself. I'd like to give you my email address and help you out...but I don't want to give everyone at yahoo! my number too!
Be creative; figure out who wants the trendy; the old women with red and orange lipstick; look at who the person is you're dealing with...think, think, think, what they would/might like...listen to them...what did they say...no, thanks...well, i have a problem with foundation, no, i don't use moisturizer, my face is oily, and then you say, oh, we have this spray...
i know it can get expensive, but samples are key. give them to maybe-maybe, maybe-yes, yes, but NOT no-no or no-maybe. Don't buy the bags until you're making some cash. Some people will NOT be interested at all. One woman got a customer to switch over totally from Clinique to Avon.
There are a lot of reps around the WORLD!!!!!! who even get those pink Cadillacs!
Slip your info into your conversations...show the customers how YOU can benefit THEM! Many people don't know that they are using an entirely unflattering palette. Hey, you know, "if you used pink here, and instead of the blue there, you use brown...that would look gorgeous with your hazel eyes. look, look at your eyes with these colors, and try THIS lipstick. Wow! Look how pretty you are! Yes, i think I have just the blush for you--(YOU)!
Older woman--"we have this Vitamin C...it'll just make your lovely skin moist, dewy and glow! With your coloring...your cheeks will shine!"
"You look like you tan a lot. We have this spectacular lotion; it's really luxurious, so creamy and rich...just the thing for you to keep your glowing skin in perfect shape over the winter while prepping it for your next summer's beautiful new tan (vacation, whatever."
Then, there are people who just order like crazy! Happy, happy, joy, joy!
Good luck!

As I have been a costumer and a reprosenitive of Avon for years I think I have a lot of advice for you.
Being able to match make- up to complexion is good. But you also have to factor in personality and age.
Although Avons profits weigh heavily on their cosmetics I've found that you're bread and butter are going to be the jewlery, clothes...et cet.
NEVER, I repeat, NEVER buy stock without it having been presold. It's better to have you consumers wait on stock than to have stock that you can't get rid of.

Hi Jen! Do you like working for Avon? I am a beauty consultant at a chain beauty store (Ulta!!) and I'm not happy. I was given infor. on Mary Kay.
PS to answer your question I love it when sellers can help me with color matching etc. It definetly makes me more apt. to purchase from them.

Yeah, a lot of people want to wear makeup but are unsure of what to wear. I'm sure some guidance would motivate them to buy.
