I and my girlfriend will be driving to my parents house, about 3 hours, and having pre-dinner snacks prepared by my aunts, cousins, and siblings, sharing a few drinks of various kinds, brought by my uncles, cousins and siblings, and in-laws. Then all 40 or so of us will say a prayer of thanks for the opportunity to be together again, and dig in to the massive pile of turkey, dressing, casseroles, rice, vegetables, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, gravy, biscuits, and who knows what all for dessert, prepared by everybody who knows how to make something. vWe will talk about everything that has happened to any member of the family since we've last seen them for hours and hours, probably take a little nap, and then drive back home. Why? What's Lina doing? About 20 years ago, my father said everybody needs to be with somebody on Thanksgiving, and the old crab that he is, he said if he saw a stranger alone, with nowhere to go, he would probably ask them in.

Lina,I will be cooking and baking all day long.
Love it.
One eye on the parade on TV and one eye on the oven.
Love love love it.
Then the gang comes in from the cold outside and starts sniffing around to see what I cooked this time.
A great joy with the people we love.

We are going to my husband's family's house. We all bring our favorite dish for the Thanksgiving table. In the Chicago area, it is unusually warm (almost 60) so we are all planning on going for a walk outdoors and reflect on our blessings this year. Can't wait!
