Has holidays made people actually not be as thankful as they could be because we have a special day for it? Thinking subconsciously here please.

Good question. My family and I were discussing this topic the other day. I am thankful everyday and I take time out to tell my family and the Lord how thankful I am for everyday life.

Being grateful every day is nice, but it's important to have special days where you sit back and really focus on things, like family, friends, food, housing, animals, nature...whatever you're thankful for. If every day was a holiday, then holidays would just be everyday occurences...they wouldn't be special times in our lives.

Gratitude isn't something you can wear out. You can be grateful every day and then be especially grateful on Thanksgiving.

Some people think they are too busy to think about that, i guess. But i think people really are thankful, even when they dont know it. They are thankful that in a snowstorm they get to work and back home safely, or when your child is VERY sick and it just gets worse and worse, untill they finaly get better---their parents are thankful that nothing horrible that could've happened, didn't happen. I think people are thankful, but they just dont realize it in that kind of way. They just think, ' Oh, good! I'm glad nobody was hurt!' Then i think they are thankful.

I give thanks every day even for situations I did not like because I will learn from all of them. Thanksgiving will be great because I will cook more than usual and enjoy laughter at the table but I have that too
when I am alone with my husband.

Sometimes people need a day to remember to be thankful. At least they will be for one day a year. (probably about a week) but that's better than nothing.
