Well, I'm from Germany. To be black in Germany, people kind of look up to you-they think you're cool (the younger generation). But over the past years now, you see more and more Nazis, so it's getting a little unpleasant there. The older generation of Germans is very cold and unfriendly, and they (a lot of them-i'm not saying all of them) don't really like Blacks, Arabs, Turks or Jews. But the younger generation (20s-30s) is very open for new cultures. They are also more open to interracial relationships. You can see that more and more now in Germany. Especially between blacks and whites. For some reason white German women are crazy about black guys, don't know why, maybe because it's so rare. And white German guys find black girls exotic and cute.
Well, but the good think is though (even though it doesn't sound good) Germans tend to be quite honest, even to your face and will tell you that they don't like you (you as a person, your skin color, your religion...whatever) you don't have that here in the States. I actually prefer the honesty, because here Americans "pretend" like as if they have nothing against someone because of their skin color or whatever, and then all of a sudden if an argument develops, you hear all these curse words and people shouting stereotypical words in your face (Kramer!!)
Sorry, but I prefer the honesty of the Germans, where they tell you right away what they think of you.
Well, you asked about Russia. I have never been to Russia, so I can't inform you on that. But I have been to Ukraine. When I was there, EVERYBODY was starring at me. I'm not that dark, since I'm mixed, but dark enough to notice. I was the only black person in the entire town where we stayed. We stayed in Eastern Ukraine. People were very curious about me and wanted to know more. I felt like a celebrity, so it was fun. The only bad experience I had was when I was stopped by the police because they wanted to see my passport. I knew they wanted money, but I was glad I had my Ukrainian boyfriend with me, so he spoke Russian to them and said there was no such law. Other than that I didn't have any bad experiences there. People will just stare at you and sometimes even kids ran after me just to look at me, it was quite interesting. Even little gypsy kids came to me, they are so cute. And if you speak a little Russian, wow, then they will really start wondering about you.
But me as a girl, I wouldn't walk around alone on the street at night, especially me as a black girl, a lot of bad things happen there to girls. It's really sad how they get used and not appreciated.
But Ukraine was fun, would go there again. If you go to Kiev though, you will probably see once in a while a black person. When i was there I saw one other black girl. It was so funny, when she walked by us, I pointed to her with big eyes and said to my boyfriend, "Look a black person."
So, as a vacation it's fine, can't tell you how it is to live there, how it would be with you (being black) and getting a job and be treated just as fair as other white Ukrainians. But in Ukraine, there is A LOT of injustices going on and a lot of corruptions. It's bad.
I heard though that Russians don't really like black people. Don't know, you would have to check it out first.
Well, good luck. St. Petersburg and Moscow are suppose to be very beautiful, but just to let you know Moscow is very expensive.

Racism is apparently acceptable to you! YOU are a racist. Read your own question! There's plenty of places where WHITE people are hated; i'm WHITE, and i can name plenty of them. For you AND me! And, you know what else? I have NO problems with anyone when i go to HARLEM!!! And, i can tell you where ANY "other" color or ethnicity is NOT accepted. Are you that dumb? Europe LOVES you; especially France! The Netherlands! Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, they'd rather not see you. The Congo, the Middle East, China--they'd rather not see ME!
Love, a WHITE GIRL!
