AMD 64 bit dual core. The older CPUs are 32 bit so this is twice fast.It runs at higher bus speeds and blows the doors of of anything that Intel makes. Also it allows you to run alot faster RAM Memory sticks and with the board below as long as you run all the same brand of sticks it will run them in the dual channel mode which is twice as fast. With 4 slots for the memory your talking being able to build a kick butt computer. I think I paid maybe 200 buck for the board and CPU. Intel makes a 64 bit but unless all your drivers are made to run with a 64 bit you have nothing but major problems stuff wont work (cd, dvd, video, sound, and so on) get the picture. Amd 64 on the on the other hand is compatiable with either 32 or 64. Also it is verrrry able to be overclocked (speed up the bus speed) I have a AMD 3200+ 64 bit it is a 2 gig CPU. I have it on a GIGABYTE GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard, the 939 is how many pins are on the bottom of the CPU the higher the better and 939 is the highest right now. By pressing the delete button at start up it will take me into the bios settings setup so if you want to I can change them. One of the nice things with this board is the it allows to change the bus speeds and AGP (accelerated graphics port settings) or basicly the port that your video card is plugged into this nice because you can also speed it up to. Nice for gaming or watching videos. I have turned up the bus speed set on mine without having to turn up the voltage (which might cause the CPU to overheat if set to high) the AMD will handle a voltage up to 4.9 volts right now mine is around 3 volts get the picture AMD kicks a+s. I have my CPU overclocked to 2.41 gigs. So basicly my 2 gig CPU is now a 2.41 gig CPU. Ive had it running like this for a year without ever having any problems at all, infact this bad boy boots up in about 20seconds,not bad!!! Any computer tech will tell you to GO WITH THE AMD they out bench mark and totaly out perform any thing Intel makes!!!!!! Intel makes a quad-core but basicly AMD doesnt care because their dual still blows Intels quad away. Check the bench marks for yourself.
Tuea - You have it it on the head!!!!!!!!!!

The new Intel Core Duo line has just come out and has blown AMD processors out of the water. The problem is that many people ran out and bought them and now in about a month from now, the dual core version of these processors will be released. I suggest waiting for those because those processors will be the top of the line and last you for a long time.

shape a working laptop or computing device is bigger value-helpful than figuring out to purchase one. even nonetheless i visit construct my own structures i in my view propose utilising a internet site like cyberpower or ibuypower to have them build the computing device because of the reality they do now no longer value countless a great type on factors and stressful paintings, you do now no longer ought to venture as plenty approximately compatibility of things, and you get a guarantee from a single source that's composed of them overclocking the device. All i7 are quad center and makes use of that recent archutecture from intel, center 2 duo makes use of two cores and is an older CPU archutecture. the two assist you to play optimum video games with a stable adequate video card even if the i7 is going to be swifter. in case you're on a stable money i choose to propose the i7 930 overclocked or the recent 6 center AMD chips, in case you're actually no longer on a money evaluate the i7 980. in case you have substitute into an overclocked device i choose to propose having the seller overclock it and cover it below warrenty (a pair sellers disguise their overclocking below warrenty). To run max pictures you may choose to to evaluate getting the optimum up thus far ATI or Nvidia card, ie Ati 5870 / 5890 or Nvidia GTX 470 / 480 participating in enjoying cards. you may additionally nonetheless get a plenty extra suitable value-helpful card like the 5770 and play optimum video games suitable yet now no longer at MAX image settings. The Nvidia 285 and 295 are additionally a extreme-extreme high quality card, in spite of the reality that it does now no longer help the optimum up thus far directX version. to boot the reality that, i do now no longer think of of there is something that on the on the spot required directx 11, in case you have the money it extremely is wisely extremely extremely surely worth the progression for at the same time as extra suitable subjects initiate up assisting it.

the best cpu is the one you can afford to buy
if you dont have money you can't get the best , if you have it it makes it easier ,
If it's for the games I look for an AMD
If it's for media I look for Intel \
good luck
