They were soldiers in the war. Also white men who couldn't fight put their slaves in the war for them. The African American women i think helped the wounded.

In 1860 there were 4Million slaves in America and plantations had about a minimum of 10,000 slaves EACH so you could imagine they could sacrifice some for the war. Now the Revolutionary War was about 100 years before that so there weren't nearly as much slaves back then. So if a black man did fight he would be a front line infantry man. Because they would be he first to die unless they were Rambo.

Most of the blacks couldn't help much at the time because they themselves were regarded as property, and not citizens. However, some of the slaves worked harder for their masters hence increasing productivity, which gave the slave holders the income to buy war supplies, etc.
So i guess you can say they helped bring in money for supplies for the war.
The only blacks that fought in the war fought for the British, because the British promised them Freedom!

Crispus Attucks fought and died in the Boston Massacre. Other African-Americans fought with their slave owners or farmed so that the family could survive or sometimes sell or gave food to the American soldiers.
