thumbing through the Guinness book of british hit singles' index might be a start. but then my copy runs up to the end of 1999 and has 23,000 titles in it so an up to date book might be a bit nearer 30,000. i did a similar thing one night about songs with "red" in the title when i was drunk. took me about an hour and a half.
