Registered Nurse here; Hi:), well I just spent 10 minutes reading about this anti-fungal medication. I wanted to make sure I was correct prior to posting, after reading the other answers, and especially the one from the pharmacy tech. As I initially thought, this medication has absolutely no effect what so ever on birth control. This medication treats candidacies (a yeast infection). It is frequently given to all females with yeast infection. Teenagers, Adults, non-pregnant and pregnant. If you have any further questions or to verify this answer, call your pharmacist, make sure you speak with a pharmacist.
Thanks for the opportunity to address this most important and well worder question regarding your health, and the interaction of medications.

Hi there I am not a doctor but a Pharmacy Tech, yes the Diflucan will affect your birth control and you will get pregnant. The reason why is because the Diflucan and antibiotic to fight infection or what ever that case is.If you read the paper that is attach to the RX bag in fine prints it will tell you the same thing. Take care.

diflucan = fluconazole.

Drugs in the azole family can interfere with the hepatic metabolism of many drugs, including Oral Contraceptives. Although it is not frequent, there's a chance difulcan will decrease the efectivity of your birth control. Since we can't know for sure AND it is not laughing matter, it would be advisable that you used a barrier method (such as condoms) until your next period
