How would the world be different if the Greeks had lost the battle of Marathon?

Long races would probably be called something else.

The race would probably be named after some other historic run to give somebody news. It probably wouldn't be the same length, either. Maybe it would be the Ride of Paul Revere or something.

As far as their battles went...Greece won and lost a lot of battles with a lot of people. In the long run, winning or losing one particular battle probably wouldn't have made much of a difference. I don't think much about hypotheticals when it comes to history. I feel I'm doing well if I can remember and comment on what actually happened.
