You have just pointed out and responded to one of the most popular and solicited questions of the century! It goes to show you what kind of nation of people we are, and how really confused we can be. There really is no such thing as "acting black or white" - the reference is only made toward races when it seems each has somehow consumed and metamorphised the ways and actions of the other. It's like saying that a person's character or personality has to be all or nothing....not true. The accusation is what people try to limit each other to. No other race or culture of people display such silliness as we do. You just do you,.

Ignore what other people are saying in that regard. Obviously those who say such things equate intelligence with being applicable only to the white race. If you want to be anything, be yourself. We could get into the psyche of the black community of America, but that would take too long. However just be proud of who you are and remember that you can be an intelligent black person without the two being mutually exclusive.

I find when people ask that that question "acting black" or vise versa is more of a stereotype. We equate rap with African Americans or Polo's with Whites, but it's a perceived image. Pop culture, stupid Hollywood films, and celebrities cash in on certain images. But is there someone acting "Jewish" or "Hispanic?" Just biases, ignorance, and most of all lack of knowledge from people create these persona's. We are all the same, human beings with different ethnic or religious backgrounds. If someone told me I was acting like a certain background I would say maybe but you are definitely a ****** (use your imagination there.) Most importantly, act or be in whatever way makes you feel comfortable.

There is no such a thing. They're stereotyping you there. Ya can't seem to win either way, can you? Supposedly, white people are stuck up, dorky, and preppy, while black people are sport lovers, poor, and coke heads. It's a load of bull.

This is totally an invention of blacks. I've never heard from white friends in my 48 years alive that I was acting "white" or "black." Generally I hear from students (high school) that acting "white" means you speak proper English, do your homework, attend school, act smart, plan for college, behave in a demure, self-controlled manner. While acting black I suppose is just the opposite. Butchering the language, using bad grammar, sounding stupid, skipping school to teach "the man" a lesson, defying authority, being loud, brash, and attempting to draw as much attention to yourself as possible. The result? Whites graduate from college nearly twice as often as blacks do, whites make about 40% more in yearly salary than blacks do, and whites are much less stopped by the police than blacks are.
