The ridiculous amount of competition for supremacy. Who is the big "Dog? The Most talented, the fastest. the most accurate, the cleanest, the most noticed by superiors....etc.etc.?
I see so much working time wasted on grievances about fellow workers purely based on self doubts and insecurities of character that I just walk away when ever approached for support by anyone so involved...I hate to do it BUTT I usually reply with "I'm here to do a job, not criticize my fellow workers performance". And of course I get a reputation of not being a nice person by most of these same people.

A couple of people in my "chain of command", no question. Money is not nearly as important as the potential they have for making people unhappy 50+ hours/week.
