Each state is different to become certified as a teacher. Most states require a four year college education; however, several states now require five years of college to be a teacher. Although states are different in what would exclude one from being a teacher, I believe they are unanimous in that a felony on your record will prevent you from teaching.

It depends on ther state you live in. Check out the Department of Instruction for your state (example: www.dpi.state.wi.us but instead of wi, plug in your states abbrev.)

I am graduating in 24 days with a BS in Early Childhood Education and have gone to school for the past 4.5 yrs (studied abroad one semester) It's a lot of work, but well worth it.

Hope I helped!
