they sell it for matresses also.
using a pa?
point all moniters on a 45 twards the floor,
bass amp behind the drummer,, put the most foam on the opposite wall.
ps,, to keep volumes down at practice, through towels over the drums. gives a kick *** thunder sound

I am researching sound proofing an existing bedroom for drums. I just returned from Long and maQuade and they said to put foam insulation at least 2" thick and then Burlap over the insulation. Pretty cheap way to do it. I priced out a 8 x 16 room and it will cost about $100.00 from Home Depot. I think I'll try it this way because coming across that amount of egg cartons seems unlikely, I'll let you know how it works out!

believe it or not but the most inexpensive way to soundproof a basement band room is egg cartons not the plastic ones if you know anyone who works in a restuarant those are the best kind.

Egg cartons, paint, discount carpet,But not in that order.I have never used egg cartons but i know people who have and they say it works good.The paint would help seal the area of holes. Old carpet is easy to come by. You can get it free sometimes just make sure the people b4 did not have pets.Or just get cheap carpet from a carpet store..So if you use the paint and the egg cartons together...that will work good.Especially if its a basement..That is just a couple of ideas......

Bubble wrap, like that used in shipping packages, is very inexpensive and works well as a sound insulator. The more layers used, the better sound barrier.

Rock Wool or Mineral Wool insulation. It has a very high sound damping quality. It would be installed either as batts or blown in. Call your local building supply store, they may not stock it, but it can be ordered. It's cheaper than fiberglass, which has almost no damping quality.

The absolute cheapest possible solution is to play in the basement of one of the other band members.
I know this from experience

I once saw a guy cover his whole room in egg cartons to sound proof it.
