I clearly belive that Maryland/Virginia are southern states!
Many People object to the idea of Virginia and Maryland being southern. Im from Maryland so I know. I hate it when people that don't know me come in my face with all that "yankee" crap...i aint no yankee...im myself! And I absolutly HATE when people say that VA an MD are rude, inconciterate, uneducated, boring, bad drivers. Im fun, nice, and filled with GREAT hospitality.

Next Subject: Civil war/M&D line.

If everyone knows that MD and VA are BELOW the Mason Dixon Line... why do some people feel the need to say that MD and VA are Northern????
It's quite -how can i say- IDIOTIC! Yes, folks, I know that the MDL was not made to divide the north and the south, but It's pretty usefull to divide the two. Doncha think???...About the civil war...VA was apart of the confeds...i can't lie, BUT MD was FORSED to become apart of the union and most of the people wanted to be with the feds.(yuddah im sayin)...MID ATLANTIC: NO!

I'm living in Northern part of West Virginia now...I moved down from NY and they called me a Yankee for a long time and still do...but in reality West Virginia helped the north and because of that it became a separate state in 1863...soooo...for a West Virginian to call me a Yankee would be like the pot calling the kettle black...lol. Virginia is definitely southern and I would have to say Maryland is too. I'm assuming that whoever said that Md & Va were rude, never been to Eastern side of Kentucky or the south western part of West Virginia....cause if your not from around those areas....they want you to move on whether your black or white.

They are below the Mason Dixon line.

The Potomac river, which separates MD from VA, is NOT the Mason Dixon Line or the Mason Dixon River.

Most of the history books claimed Maryland as a Border state as it was adjacent to the Mason Dixon Line, and kinda neutral. But I believe it was part of the South becasue it was Below the Line.

I don't know. However, like you said, they are Southern states, whether people want to agree with it or not. But you're right some people don't want to claim them as part of the South and I don't know why. Some people say it's because it's not as "bad" as places like "Mississippi" or "Alabama". Still though, they are part of the South. Happy Thanksgiving!
