You could lurk around on the Yahoo answers site--it's been working for me! Serriously, though, I know that there has to be SOMETHING that interests you. What is it? Never mind if it's something that you can make money at, or if it's something others would approve of. What do you find yourself thinking about? Prevention of boredom is all about finding things that interest you, and engaging in them. Do you like to hike or go for walks? Then find a new park or trail that you've never been to and give it a visit. Do you like to read? Then get a library card and go hog-wild! How about music? There's tons of instruments that you can learn to play--and many music shops have rental programs so that you don't have to plop down your entire nestegg on a guitar that you might only play once.

Like pool or darts? There's community centers in nearly every city if you're too young to go to bars, and I'll bet some of your friends are just as bored as you are. Invite them along! Even if the place is lame, with a sense of humor you can make it fun. Go grab a local newspaper and see what's going on in your area (concerts, comedy shows, plays, art exhibits, and the like), then pencil in dates that interest you.

Don't underestimate the power of regular old table games, either! Grab some friends, a deck of cards, and some poker chips. Be the shoe in Monopoly. Scene It? is fun if you're a movie buff--but there's also music and television editions of that game as well. Even the old stand-in Yahzee can get you through a long afternoon. And you'll be doing a friend or family member a favor by keeping them from getting bored, too.

You're really only as limited as your imagination--the world's big! Find a place to fill in it!

Me? I just stay out of my mind for a while. Let it air out a bit.

Think of a way to make the world better. Not "stop the wars" or "end hunger" better. Just a tiny, itty-bitty bit better in your immediate area. Something stupid easy. Doesn't matter what, but keep it small. Just lift one delicate little pinky finger in the fight against chaos.

Make an effort to earn something new, meet someone new. Or post a Yahoo Answer or reply to a Yahoo question like I just did.

How about reading?

Find something you are interested in and read all you can about it.

Works for me.
