You do need it. Maybe not the way you get it in high school but electricians deal with chemistry in many ways.

Here are a few: batteries -- how they work, how they charge and discharge, the worry about them, etc. are all chemistry

Chemistry deals with corrosion: a big deal with connections, wiring.

Fuel cells -- another chemical operation

Hazardous materials -- chemistry deals with how to read the MSDS (safety sheets) of all the chemicals you deal with in being an electrician

It may not be required, but it is a good bit of knowledge you may need to pick up somewhere.

No, you do not need chemistry to pass the test to earn the license for electricians.

BUT, you do need to know some basics in chemistry as you will encounter them on the job. Basic common sense would be sufficient however.

I do suggest you, at least take basic chemistry though. The knowledge you acquire will be helpful. But is it required for your license and the job, no.

I believe every high school student should take chemistry regardless of their goals for a career. A well-rounded education always serves you better.

Physics is more important, but chemistry never hurts.
