Probably whatever Kelly wanted to discuss... and that was the problem. He was the invited guest and he sat there like a grinning mute. She was being rude.
Of course I can see where she's coming from too. I hate - hate - HATE strangers touching me, and even if the stranger is famous, I would still be like "NO, NO NO NO touching".

They were talking with a guest. Clay couldn't get a word in. He playfully reached over to shush her and put his hand over her mouth so he could talk. He had been out in the audience prior to the show, shaking hands with many in the audience. With the cold/flu season here, Kelly said not to put his hand on her mouth, she didn't know where it had been. It was nothing homophobic, it was just a simple, silly request. Rosie O'Donnell, however, has chosen to blow it all out of proportion by calling Kelly homophobic (regardless of the fact that Clay has never admitted one way or the other if he's gay or straight). Rosie just loves to stir the pot, always has, always will. I'm done with The View.

From what I saw, Clay held his hand over her mouth for about a good seconds. I think that out of courtesy for the hostess, a guest host should refrain from touching the hostess' mouth whether funny or not. Kelly is a chatterbox and that's her charm, Clay should have been slightly aware of what he was up against. Well, it just goes to show that two divas are two too many!

stable GOD - WHY is every person making a huge deal over this??? i'm afraid that I ought to instruct the tables in this one and say that the people who're making this variety of vast situation are people who're homophobes/hypocritical. IF - Clay Aiken weren't gay and Kelly Ripa had suggested this to him, no person can have ever suggested a word. If I had a nickel for each and every time I had ever suggested to somebody, "whats up! i don't be attentive to the place that hand has been!" as a comedian tale, i could be a rich lady. i won't be in a position to have confidence that we've become a united states of america of such hypersensitive FREAKS that we gained't only take something at face fee quite of attempting to discover conspiracies everywhere. Ever think of that possibly - only possibly - this exchange into an attempt at humour and NO MALICE exchange into meant in besides? Kelly is the queen of the doubtless 'harmless' - yet double-edged comedian tale. recover from yourselves, us of a of america and enable it bypass! do not you have greater extreme issues to difficulty approximately - like.....the place you gets your next French pedicure or something?!?!?

I read that they were interviewing Emmit Smith and his dance partner and Kelly Ripa sort of interruped Clay...and that's when he put his hand on her mouth...like a joking gesture for her to be quiet.
Still, I think he was out of line. It was unintentional but still beyond personal space limits.
And I do not think she meant any gay-slam...he has not affirmed his gayness anyway.
I would be PISSED if anyone stuck the open palm of their hand over my open mouth.

I think the whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. It was a joking gesture on Clays part and Kelly's comment was taken the wrong way.

Clay just couldn't get an word in edgewise because Kelly wouldn't shut her trap for a minute. This was way overplayed and I think she owes him an apology. She did not have to be as rude and crude as she was. She simply should have taken his hand down, held it, and read him the riot act during commercial break. She was an embarrassment, in my opinion.

I thought Clay was telling a joke and Kelly interrupted him and he put his hand over her mouth instead of just telling her outloud "SHUT UP".
I was wondering if they were going to mention it today. Good thing Regis mention it! Did you see her face today when Regis was like "Yeah, my hand is clean and I know where its been" ...
Ha... bet she felt embarrassed.
