That must be very frustrating, All I can suggest is to clean your XP recovery disk.
Good luck

its a fault with the disc you are using or the rom is detecting the disc but the information isn't converting through properly to the pc's memory and it isn't intepreting the correct information as such can happen.

Basically all you can to do is take it to a pc shop to repair or buy another disc and try that but I'd take it to a pc shop to repair as it can't function properly and the rom isn't detecting the disc functions or the bit memory isn't encoding on the disc when you insert it into the rom drive for the format providing you don't have a virus or something in your pc's frame thats preventing you from doing the format missions

Are you sure the recovery disk is the right one for your laptop? If it isn't it will be attempting to install the wrong drivers and after copying the system over the first 'windows' restart will fail. It's not unknown for smaller pc dealers to get the documentation mixed up!

Stand corrected by someone much more experienced but if your problems are so bad as to reformat, has your drive been seriously damaged by malware or sheer failure - it all breaks sooner or later.

Sounds like you'd probably get better luck takin' it back to the manufacturer. Your computer may have picked up a virus that's stopping it from recovering.
