A cake with candles is a good start. Dinner is traditional. You could buy yourself some sexy lingerie and give him the gift of love. Or a new shirt.

Maybe you could celebrate his birthday on the weekend as oppose on the actual day. That way it won't be too overwhelming to have a birthday and major holiday all in the same day. Let him know that you have something special instore for him for the weekend. Make plans to do something he would really love... maybe a short trip somewhere with just the two of you or maybe just buy him a jerzee with his favorite team on it. Sometimes with men you have to really use your imagination.

Now, if he is one of those types that MUST have something on his birthday despite the holiday then get him something small, like a CD that he's always wanted. Wrap it up in a nice wrapping paper and surprise him after the dinner. Get him a birthday cake and have the family sing happy birthday to him. It sounds like he just wants you to acknowledge his birthday.

Talk about roll reversal! He sounds like some women I know who believe that men should read their minds or who are lazy when they ask for ideas. You are not wrong! He's acting like a spoiled kid. When my wife asks, I tell her exactly what I want - not that I always get it. Anyway, if you still want to treat him, dress up like a pilgrim woman except with sexy black lingerie, stockings, garter belt, etc. underneath and let him stuff your turkey! Sorry, I'm letting my own twisted thoughts out again. Seriously, hope you find the right answer and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I have the exact same problem, except my whining one is going to be 32.
make a cake, and get a present or two... everyone is going to be getting together anyway. I am sure he will appriciate anything, as long as it is something!
I stopped planning my husband b-day one year, thinking he was old enough to not care, and I never heard the end of it.
he wanted a cake, and a banner that said Happy birthday.
"oh brother" anyway, perhaps you could give thanks for it being his b-day. it's the little things that count.

Yes. Do this... Bake his favorite cake for thanksgiving dinner and later surprise him with another dessert and dress like a turkey and let him carve with his sword or switch blade... whatever it may be.
