I'm not entirely sure why you would want to do that.
Tampons are not very healthy as it is, but I understand their convenience where our menstral cycle is concerned. But I would not want to use them if I didn't have my period. ANything inserted into your body for any long period of time is not a good thing. And if you forget and leave it in more than a day, you could end up very very sick indeed.

First I wonder why would you want to? What would be the point? It is dangerous to wear a tampon to long or with out a period because of the toxic sydrome, it is on the insert of every single box of tampons. If tampons are used at all they need to be used under alot of care because the sydrome can be fetal.

I found this on the tampax webiste:
Can I use a tampon when I am not on my period? Tampax Tampons should not be worn until after your menstrual flow begins. For added protection when experiencing other vaginal discharge, or just waiting for your period to start, you might want to try Alldays Pantiliners, a thin pad that fastens to your underwear with an adhesive strip

It's definately not a good idea to wear a tampon when you're not having your period because the risk for TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) goes way up. TSS can be fatal.

There isn't enough moisture in the vagina when you aren't bleeding, so removing a tampon then could cause small tears in the vaginal wall and cause infection. You should only use tampons for your menstral cycle and not for any other discharge.

Because theres nothing in there for the tampon to soak up, and your at a higher risk of toxic shock, its just not healthy to use one when you are not bleeding.
