many times i use the computer for an extended period of time (for video editing and stuff), and i'm thinking of buying a new smaller model from either hp or dell. anyway, if the desktop computer is so small and compact, does it easily overheat (since there's little room and so tight)??

depends on how well they are cooled and what processor they have. Its better if u chose one with a mobile processor. Usage does not really affect it. ( I edited video on my laptop for 4 hours in 30C and it never overheated)

No, they are designed to run at a certain temp. However users tend to cause overheating by blocking the air vent slits on the casing with paper debre and hanging stuff around the box. The other big cause of overheating is placing the box on a carpeted floor under a desk. When you open one of these boxes it generally is full of fibre pieces and dust.
If you need to place the CPU on the floor it helps a liitle to use a raised cpu stand to help air flow. ( it will still get dust in it) Every few months it helps to blow out the box with compressed air to keep stuff of the processor chip(s) and keep the fan blades clean(er).

Thats funny I just built a mATX PC yesterday and man this thing heats up as soon as I turned it on the whole case got warm. so I install round IED cables unfortunately there is not a single place to mount a decent fan, only a couple for the tiny fans so I am probably going to have to cut open a place or get one of those drive bay fans. but you should get one they are pretty cool and save allot of space. there are lots of options for cooling. just make sure it has a good warranty because I bet the parts are gonna be pricey should it ever need repair

"would not that look weird and wonderful?" in no way. video games call for countless components consequently all chips interior ans in specific the CPU generate one extra warmth. it extremely is not a venture except the laptop hangs generally or shutdown unexpectedly. of direction the noise might nicely be aggravating yet you should stay with it or improve. no longer all Dell computers are interest-oriented machines. extremely maximum of them are not. i'm a Dell help tech for the EMEA area so please fell loose to mail me information related to your Dell's kind and what video games/application you're working or plan to run and that i'll attempt to grant you a extra particular answer. countless the above solutions are not thinking you have a DELL laptop so... a million. there is not any such element as an AMD-based Dell laptop (yet); 2. Dell's is the #a million laptop producer of the international so i assume there is countless human beings determining to purchase "crap". in my view they are as plenty crap as the different kind... 3. Dell computers have proprietary layout in very almost all the internal or case components so there is not any way you may purchase a distinctive heatsink and make it extra healthy right into a Dell's (Foxconn) motherboard; the comparable is going for extra followers and extremely almost something you are able to think of of.
