No, I don't think it is the case. If you go and watch a ballet performance in a racially diverse city you will see all races represented on the stage, and they will all dance equally well and equally professionally.
I think the way people approach dancing it is culturally developed, not genetic as some might be thinking.
You say asians are better at remembering choreography; yes, I noticed that too. I think it is due to the fact of how they are trained to study by the school system and by thier parents. Talk to anyone who went to school in China and ask them how they study, how much memorization they have to do. (Just think - you have to bemorize a few letters, they have to memorize thousands of charachters in order to be able to write and read) This is called training. If your brain is trained to do something really well this becomes your easiest way of achieving things.
If black are better at hiphop it may have to do with the fact that they grow up with it - watching it on TV, seeing older kids in the neighborhood dance it and so on.
As a white girl and a Latin dancer, I can tell you that what I kept hearing in my family is "don't you swing your hips as you walk - that's dirty" - this is where and how we lose our range of movement, by mentally restricting it.

As a dance teacher, I can assure you that there are Black people with absolutely no gift for dancing.
It is true that the percentage of different types of muscle fibers seem to have a genetic basis. However fast fibers tend to favorise strength more than speed, while slow fibers favorise endurance. Both are necessary for dance, and both are found in everyone. Differences may aid a person to be a particular type of dancer, but a better dancer in general? Other physical and social factors are certainly more important.

Well, I think it's just the natural attitude that most African American dancers have. Not to be stereotypical, but black dancers have an attitude about them when they dance. They can memorize the choreography because that's just what dancers do, but performing a dance is a completely different part of it. You have to have a certain amount of attitude to perform dances well. Blacks tend to have that attitude. I think it's more of an attitude thing rather than a physical thing.

I'm black and I go to a school for the arts, i take Dancing and Theatre Acting. I can dance real good and so can all the people in ma dance class. But the thing is half of the people in my dance class are white..So black people dancing better is a label or a stereo-type and is very uncalled for. Some people are good at dancing and some aren't its a matter of skill and tallent not race...

I am black and i do belly dance better than rest of the dances but this is due to the kind of music i listen to.Dancing among blacks is some thing like a trait; for every black home there's at least one good dancer.on average blacks dance more than whites and other races.Blacks do the mixes whiles other races are confined in their own music and nothing outside their boundaries.

You rock!! And loosen up like everyone else says, if you want to look more like Hollywood add a little excess movement and loosen up and have a good time with it! And they look your level so i think you should stay with that class and push yourself. You looked as good as them or better!

i dont think it has to do with race, it has to do with culture. most African Americans have a grown up in a culture where people dance openly. people take that them for the rest of their lives.
