Looking at all the parts that take to make up the PS3, I would say AT LEAST 2 years, if not more. If they lower the price anytime before that I will be very surprised. They are already taking a huge loss per console, so I can't see them wanting to take a bigger loss.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has just started to make a profit per console, so they might actually lower their price within six months to a year if you want to go that route.

I have a 360, and I love it. The games, online, and now video, is fantastic. It is also cheaper and will be even more cheaper then PS3. I cannot imagine anyone not wanting a 360.

Gauging from history, where the PS2 only had a major price drop a couple years after it was released and right before it's inception of the PS3.

The sad truth however is it WON'T go down simply because it costs them roughly $850 to MAKE the console. It's due to the blue-laser inside it that allows it to read blue-ray DVDs. Until blue-ray laser lenses are cheap, the PS3 won't drop a $50.

To get as low as $100.00 you'll probably have to wait at least a year, or until the PS4 comes out and people are getting rid of their PS3s.
