2x - 3 = 20/7
2x = 20/7 + 3 = 20/7 + 21/7 = 41/7
x = (41/7)/2 = 41/14.

7(2x - 3) = 20
14x - 21 = 20
14x = 20 + 21
14x = 41
x = 41/14 = 2.9285714285714285714285714285714

7(2x-3)=20
7(2x) - 7(3) = 20
14x-21=20
+21 +21
14x=41
14x/14 = 41/14
X= 2 13/14

Those others are wrong....
7(x-3) =20 multiply the 7 out to get....
7x -21 =20 then add 21 to both sides to get
7x = 41 then divide by 7 to get
x = 41/7 or 2.9285714....
X = 2.9285714
You then plug it in the formula to double check it.

Here's another way to do it:
7(2x-3)=20
14x-21=20
14x=41
x=41/14

use the distrubutive property of multiplication:
7(2x-3)=20
7(2x)-7(3)=20
14x-21=20
14x-21+21=20+21
14x=41
x=41/14=a really long number
x=2.9285714285714285714285714285714285...........
or about 2.9286
