I saw a deer tied to the top of a Hyundi's trunk and it made me wonder.......do really need to hunt now? All animals, humans included, have disease to control population. So if NOT for population control, what is the purpose?

I used to hunt some 20 years ago. I stopped when one shot didn't kill the animal instantly and I still see the pain in his eyes when I got on the scene to end his misery. I'll probably never hunt again because I can't stand to inflict pain.

However, Let me explain why hunting has a place today:
People has f.....d up the ecosystems so far that there is no balance left between preys and predators. Thus the preys can prolifer at leisure and overpopulate. This leads to the proliferation of diseases that may, or may not jump species and harm human beings. The artificial regulation of game population is what allows hunters to kill a certain amount of animals, amount that is announced at opening season. Going over that number is severely fined, as it should because then it harms the balance of territory versus population.

I will never hunt myself again, but I must recognize that hunting has a reason to be, and satisfies the bloodlust of the predators in humans.

I hope that this was helpful,
Regards

Is it worse to kill a steer than to kill a deer? I don't hunt. Hate guns for personal reasons. But I love to eat moose meat once in a while when a hunting friend gives me some. There is something to the taste of wild meat. As long as we respect the rules, there should be no problem with hunting. Because mankind has already interfered with nature, we can't get away from interfering again. Sometimes a protected species gets out of hand. For instance when there are too many moose in a natural preserve, there is an auction for one or two or three or four hunting licenses. But it is very limited, and very severe penalties for anyone who hunts illegally. I am more concerned about oil tankers spilling in the ocean, and about industry destroying the atmosphere. A deer is cute. So is a rabbit. But then again, have you ever seen a calf close up? How can you eat such a cute thing?

I do not think it is. The people who hunt just want to kill. If they cared do much about the animals and dont want them to be over populated, why do they use the deers as trophys and to show off.

Now a days, we have meat for people, and even poeple who hunt still eat store meat sometimes. I think peoples excuses are stupid and fake.

There are those who make a good case for hunting. For one thing, you get meat that doesn't have hormones in it. Even better, the animal is allowed to roam free right up until he is killed swiftly and humanely. That sounds better than being caged all his life. Also, it keeps him from dying from starvation or being terrorized by a bigger, stronger animal.

If you are going to eat meat, this is a more humane way to do it.

Humans always love to think they're in control of everything, perhaps even nature. At the least, they think they manage the planet better than leaving it to nature to take its course; so, they must "get involved".
