The government is not more concerned with keeping the bible out of schools than drugs. They are more successful at keeping the bible out. There is a difference. I think the government spends more time and money on keeping drugs and violence out of schools then bibles.

You are grossly mistaken. The government is indeed concerned over the drug problem in schools, and they promote legislation of laws that protect students and prevent drug sales within the vicinity of the schools and to minors. The problems that cause youths to use drugs are not the schools... maybe parents should re-examine their own lifestyles and what they say and do in front of their own children? Maybe they should also demand truth and less corruption on the part of their religious leaders and elected officials by demanding accountability? Those are the ones that SHOULD know better yet are giving the worst examples to our youths.
The issue over the Bible in schools is that the religion should be practiced at home and in one's place of worship, not to interfere with the academic pursuits for which the schools are intended. Why? Because I may not subscribe to your religion or you might not subscribe to mine or, for that matter, the fact that I am an atheist means that I do not go to any place of worship because I do not believe in supernatural/superstitious matters and do not want to be bothered with these matters in school... I would be attending school to learn about academia, not religion or religious views or religious matters or supernatural phenomena.
Would you like YOUR child being influenced by another religion's propaganda? I don't want my children influenced by someone else's personal beliefs, either!
Places of worship do not teach our children history, biology, math and other academic subjects so it is only fair that the students take advantage of the limited time they have in school to learn about those academic subjects that will prepare them for employment or higher education or vocational education.
Roe vs. Wade was about privacy issues between a woman and her doctor or caregivers, not anything else. What a woman and her doctor or the procedure(s) that take place are not the government's business, that includes abortions as a medical procedure (because the primary patient is the woman, not the fetus). Why do people twist things around? If more people would adopt children, especially those that are against abortions, we wouldn't be discussing this issue (that's a solution no one wants to contemplate).
There has been enough bloodshed and killings and tortures as a result of religious views/differences and religious strife throughout history around the world to also bring that into our schools. If you want your children to learn religion, teach them yourself or have them attend your place of worship, but leave those topics out of our schools!
Your question was loaded in favor of an anticipated reply; sorry to disappoint you. Best wishes.

In the Constitution there is Freedom Of Religion. It is one of the first things in the Constitution and drugs does not have any part in it. Religion is a personal choice along with drugs but there are many different kinds of religions and people can get affended by that. Schools don't allow worshiping of any sort. Drugs usually doesn't take place IN the school.

It's part of society's overall moral decline...
Drugs are a problem in every school. And every school does everything within it's power to combat it. I think if more kids would report what they know to the right authorities without any fear of retaliation, we could do more about it. But sometimes it's poses a bigger problem than schools can handle.
On the other hand, banning Bibles and prayer out of schools was a fairly easy task when compared to the other! "Do not teach my kids propaganda", "Keep religion out of school!", some say. Atheism is a religion. (You have to have a lot more "faith" to believe that mess.) Be sure to teach my child evolution and 'alternative lifestyles'. Hmmm...
Look at the things happening in our government. Can you really be surprised about the condition of schools anymore?

On the contrary, the police are more interested in curtailing drug use, however, that very seldom makes headline. The media chimes on the cultural clashes between the Religious/Christian, and the Atheist because it will make headlines. What makes headlines will generate sales. What makes sales generates advertisement revenue. It is not a matter of what the government is or is not doing, it is a matter of what makes changes for the media.

teaching religious mythology in schools as if it were science leads to problems in the science lessons.
religion offers a reasonable set of moral guidelines but insists you ignore scientific evidence because ONLY WE HAVE THE TRUTH!
when religion and science disagree (such as regarding creation) Science MUST be given primacy, religion will hold back pupils understanding of science.
Some people claim religion has the only right answers, these people will of course still believe that the earth is flat and that the sun moves around it.
/quote
The Vatican showed that Galileo was 'suspect of heresy' having held a view that went against holy scripture. His specific crime was believing that 'the Sun is the centre of the world and does not move from east to west'. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, though this was reduced to permanent house-arrest at his villa in Arcetri. Perhaps worse Galileo was forced to Abjure, in other words to confess his views and to condemn them

The government, particularly the Judicial Branch, has many judges that are considered "liberal activists". These "liberal activist" judges will side with such groups as the ACLU when they bring lawsuits to keep religion and God out of our society and schools. By saying "liberal activist" I mean a judge that will let his/her personal views supersede the law and the U.S. constitution. This happened in 1973 with Roe v. Wade when the Supreme Court took it upon themselves to claim that there was a constitutional right for a woman top kill her son/daughter. So "liberal activist" judges have been using their personal views over the law to rule on issues such as abortion and "separation of church and state" in addition to many others.

It's not the goverment as such, it's the plague of local council staff, local self-appointed busybodies who just come up with these stupid ultra-pc rules and regulations to justify their having a job! Not a year goes by without some 'official' banning posters advertising a church xmas service in case it offends muslims (who don't care anyway, and if they did, should have no right to complain as this is a predominantly christian country - live here and you should live by our rules!)*, or kids being banned from playing conkers in case they hurt their little fingers.... Political Correctness is ruining this country, something thats not helped by the ridiculous claims and lawsuits that are allowed to go to court these days, something which we seem to have inherited from our dim american cousins! Not being discriminatory to others different from yourself is called being a decent human being, it has nothing to do with being pc. * Incidentally, before anyone claims this is a racist comment, it's not! I am merely observing the fact that if you move to a different country, you should respect that countrys rules and traditions.
