You ask two questions. The greatest power is Unconditional LOVE,for it is God. Nothing can resist unconditional Love. Unconditional love allways brings about that which is GOOD for all concerned. Hatred has the greatest power to do harm, when used to do harm due to the nature of Karma(the law of cause & effect) hatred will return to harm the user.

Love does the most harm, because no matter what you do love can always turn into hate. You can make someone believe in your love, but what happens when your feelings change? Whereas with hatred, if you hate someone that person already knows where they stand.

Good question, Katina! I guess that is a really hard one because if you look at it as a people's love of their country, people and freedom, war normally results in an assault on that love - hence an equal feeling of hatred directed at those undertaking the assault.
I don't think I articulated myself to well, but hope that made sense....I think i need a second coffee
Good question though

In a way they go hand in hand. It can be the love of something that leads to the hatred of another.
Take Religion for example. The love of one's God, can cause the contempt for another. A battle of whose God is the correct God.
Or Ethnicity, Pride in you cultural background can lead to the hatred of other Ethnic groups, and both sides feel so passionate about the same thing that it leads to war. (Rwanda is an excellent example of Ethnic hate.)
So I would say that love and hatred are the things that fuel the fire.

LOVE. As Dr. King would say "Hate cannot conquer hate. Only love can do that." Hate destroy who are you are inside and out. It may do the most harm, but it can easily be conquered by love. Throughout mankind's history, people have chosen to love the ones that oppress them instead of hating back. Jesus, Ghandi, Mother Teresa... Do you think that black people who'd had the rights's endowed to them as human beings if they chose to hate the people who caused harm to them?

I think that love is definitely more powerful, for the simple fact that hate cannot defeat love - love is constant and unyielding unto death; it remains even in the face of hate. Hate destroys everything except love. In the words of Tavis Smiley, simply, "Love wins."

In certain cultures, South African Zulu tribes for one, hate and love are considered to be equally important, and equally strong. It's just how you use them that matters.
